Is there a Tinder for disabled people?
There is no single dominant "Tinder for disabled people," but several disability-focused platforms exist. Personal Singles Dating, Dateability (founded 2022), Whispers4u (running since 2002), Disabled Mate, Disabled Passions, and Special Bridge each serve overlapping audiences. A 2025 University of Sydney meta-analysis found disabled users on disability-focused apps report 42% higher satisfaction than on mainstream apps, mainly because disclosure stops being an awkward mid-chat reveal and becomes part of who you are from word one.
Is Dateability free?
Yes - Dateability has a robust free tier with unlimited swipes, likes, matches, and messages. Premium Dateability+ unlocks granular filters and advanced verification but is optional. Personal Singles Dating works the same way: free messaging on the core tier, no card required, and no paywall on conversations. Premium features are extras, not gates.
Is there a free dating site for disability?
Yes. Personal Singles Dating offers free messaging on the core tier with no payment required to join or chat. Other free or freemium options include Disabled Passions (free text chat, message boards, email), Handispace.org (free with no messaging limits and a confidence index), SingleDisabled.com (free signup with local matching), and Dateability's free tier. Whispers4u and Disabled Mate offer free trial accounts with paid messaging.
Who is the site for?
Personal Singles Dating is for disabled and chronically ill adults aged 18 and older in the United States. That includes wheelchair users, amputees, Deaf and hard-of-hearing community members, autistic adults, ADHDers, little people, blind and low-vision singles, people with Down syndrome, and people living with bipolar disorder, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, PTSD, and other long-term conditions. Thoughtful allies and partners who want an interabled relationship are also welcome.
Can I use the platform just to meet disabled friends online for free?
Yes. Friendship-first connection is a core part of why we exist. Loneliness is the strongest pain point our community names - 61% of disabled adults report chronic loneliness, per the CDC - and we don't think every connection needs to be romantic to matter. The Browse Community path lets you search by mood tags like "calm," "introvert," "spoonie," or "bookish" without any pressure to date.
Free tier and pricing
Many disabled adults live on fixed disability income - SSDI averages around $1,500 a month - so a $30 dating app subscription is out of reach. We built our pricing around that reality.
What does the free tier actually include?
The free tier includes account creation, full profile building (story-format about-me, mood tags, accessibility notes), unlimited browsing of the community, unlimited likes, unlimited matches, and unlimited messaging. You can verify your profile with a photo badge for free. Reporting and blocking are free. There is no daily swipe limit and no message cap.
What is in the optional premium tier?
Premium adds finer search filters (filter by specific disability, mood, distance, or values), advanced verification badges, and read receipts. It is genuinely optional - every relationship-forming feature, including unlimited messaging, is available on the free tier. Premium exists to fund the platform, not to gate the conversation.
How much does premium cost?
Premium is priced to be accessible: a small monthly fee well below the $30+ tier of mainstream apps, with discounted three- and twelve-month plans. We will publish current pricing on the How It Works page. We never auto-charge a free account, and we never trick anyone into a paid subscription.
Is my payment information safe?
Payment is processed by a PCI-compliant third party. We never store your full card number on our servers. You can cancel premium at any time from your account settings without contacting support. We also accept refund requests within seven days, no questions asked.
Safety and verification
Roughly 40% of disabled daters have been targeted by romance scams (FTC, 2023), and many have faced ableist remarks or fetishization on mainstream apps. Our safety design starts there. For full detail, see the Safety & Privacy page or read our online dating safety tips.
How do you verify members?
We use a free photo verification badge: members take a selfie matching a prompted pose, and our team confirms it matches the profile photos. Verified profiles wear a small badge so others can decide who to chat with. Verification is voluntary but strongly encouraged, and we recommend chatting only with verified members on a first contact.
How do I report a problem?
Every profile and every message has a Report button. You can block a member in one tap, which immediately ends contact and hides them from your browse. Reports are reviewed by a human moderator within 24 hours on weekdays. Repeat or severe violations result in permanent account removal.
How do you protect me from romance scams?
We monitor for the patterns the FTC documents - sudden requests for money, claims of being stuck overseas, refusal to video chat, scripted "love-bombing" within days. Our community guidelines remind every new member: never send money, never share your home address early, and tell a trusted person where you are going on any in-person date. If something feels off, step back and report.
What information stays private?
Your last name, exact address, phone number, and email are never shown on your profile. We use in-app messaging only - you do not need to share a phone number to chat. We never sell your data, and we never use your dating activity for ad targeting outside the platform.
Accessibility and assistive tech
A 2025 Includate review of mainstream apps concluded that Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge "continue to treat accessibility as an add-on rather than a foundation, placing much of the burden on disabled users." Our team treats it as the floor, not the ceiling.
Is the site accessible if I use a screen reader?
Yes. Every page uses semantic HTML5, labeled buttons, ARIA landmarks, and full keyboard navigation. We test profile flows, messaging, and search with VoiceOver on iOS and macOS, NVDA on Windows, and TalkBack on Android. Image upload offers a required alt text field so screen reader users get real descriptions.
Do you support captions and sign language?
Yes. Profile videos can carry captions, and members can mark profiles with ASL-friendly or signing-preferred tags. We do not currently host live video chat - we keep messaging text-first and let members move to a video call platform of their choice when they are ready, which lets Deaf members pick the captioned or signing tool they prefer.
Can I use the site without swiping?
Yes. Personal Singles Dating is message-first, not swipe-first. The browse interface is a story-led list you can navigate with keyboard, switch control, voice control, or screen reader. There is no swipe gesture required to like, match, or message - every action is a labeled button.
What about high contrast and reduced motion?
A dark mode toggle sits in the header. Animations respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting in your browser or operating system. Text scales cleanly to 200% zoom without breaking the layout. If you find an accessibility gap, our community team replies within two business days at our contact page.
Disclosure, devotees, and etiquette
Disability disclosure is always your choice. Mimoun et al. (2025), publishing in Stigma and Health, found that earlier disclosure resulted in less negative affect and a more open, authentic connection - but the right moment is the one that feels right to you.
Is it okay to date someone with a disability?
Yes. Disabled people have the same right to romantic relationships as anyone else. Healthy dating with a disabled partner looks like any healthy relationship - built on respect, communication, and seeing the person as a whole human, not a diagnosis. Is there a dating app for people in wheelchairs?

The advantage of a disability-focused space is that you do not have to spend the first three messages explaining the chair - partners come in already comfortable, and the conversation can be about you.
How do you date a person in a wheelchair?
The same way you date anyone, with three small adjustments: ask before touching the chair (it is part of personal space, not furniture), plan accessible venues together so the planning is shared, and lead with curiosity instead of assumptions. Do I have to disclose my disability on my profile?
No - you decide your disclosure pace. Many members lead with their disability because they want to filter for partners who already get it. Others share more privately as conversation deepens. Both are valid. Our profile builder offers structured disability fields and free-text about-me blocks so you can disclose at the depth and pace that feels right.
How do you handle devotees and fetishizers?
We have an explicit no-devotee policy written into our terms. Profiles that signal fetishization through language, photo choices, or message patterns are removed via pre-screening, member reporting, and active moderation. Members who report a devotee get a follow-up from our team. Repeat or egregious behavior is permanent ban, full stop.
Your account, your control
Autonomy is a principle, not a feature. You should be able to leave as easily as you joined. For the legal version, our Terms & Privacy page covers data handling in plain language.
Can I pause my profile without deleting it?
Yes. The pause setting hides your profile from browse and search, stops new messages, and keeps your existing matches and conversations safely stored. You can reactivate any time. Many members pause during a flare, a busy work stretch, or while focusing on one connection - no need to start over later.
How do I delete my account?
Account deletion is one click in your settings. We confirm once, then permanently remove your profile, photos, and matches within seven days. After deletion, your data is purged from our active systems within 30 days. Backup tapes are overwritten on a 90-day rotation, after which nothing remains.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can request a full data export from your settings page. Within seven days you receive a downloadable file containing your profile, messages, matches, and account history. This honors GDPR and CCPA portability rights and gives you a clean record of your time with us.
